Problems automating ES2

Hi there

I'm setting the automation to "latch" on a channel with ES2 inserted, and I'm playing around with the cutoff control on the bottom of the ES2 panel. I can see the automation being drawn on the track as I do this. However... when I set the automation to "read", the ES2 is not responding! The cutoff control just sticks where I last left it, even though there are nodes all over the place on the automation.

Help!

If it helps, I prefer to use TOUCH. Latch for some reason seemed to keep writing automation for a few seconds after I would stop tweaking a fader as if it were still waiting for me to do something, thus overwriting automation that I intended to keep.

I don't experience this behaviour with touch. So, I mostly use touch and then put it to read when I am finished.

Best,

AB

As I understand it, the cutoff knob on the bottom of the ES2 panel is a 'macro' parameter controlling the linked cutoff parameters of the filter section. So if you move the macro knob you're actually automating both filter cutoff parameters.

But the macro parameter itself is not automated. Hence no feedback when reading the automation.

PS.

Just did a quick test. It works for me as expected generating automation of LPF and MMF cutoff.

OK - problem solved. VERY weird though!

I tried some other automation on the track - volume, EQ, etc.... it would draw the automation but wouldn't read it!!

I trashed preferences... that didn't help.

I tried automation on other tracks... hurrah, they work! :?

I go back to my problem track, create a new track with the same settings, copy across everything from the problem track (incl. automation) and... it works!!!

Seems like the track itself was corrupt somehow?

I concur with Fred B. Logic 8 has many automation b-ugh!s that will result in this kind of inexplicable behavior.

Woodenboy, I'd like to suggest for the future that you not be so quick to trash your preferences to try and solve a problem. There is no proof that trashing preferences actually does anything useful other than make you reset all of your preferences again by hand. Also keep in mind that trashing your prefs will also trash the virtual memory and other optional settings for EXS-24.
