hey, every time i bounce from a midi object i can avoid getting clicks at the start of the audio... im set to 24bit in all places that matter im recording into stereo... however i am recording stereo bass, i know this is silly but i made such a nice patch in the ES2 i cant match it in anything mono that i have right now.. that reminds me.. can i set the ES2 to mono????? the only way iv been able to acheive mono instruments is by selecting them from the beggining from the AU menu... can you make the stereo instruments mono???

thanks if you can help.. :)

Hi

I think the noise you are hearing is well documented in Logic. It's a midi note triggered at the beginning of the song before anything plays right. I can't remember what the solution was actually. If you have your song starting before measure 1 try moving it over. I don't think that is the solution though but it might help. I usually just take the audio file when I'm done mixing and mastering and bring it back into logic and cut the sound from the beginning. A little annoying but i don't mind. If you do a search you may be able to find the answer. And to make a stereo instrument like the ES2 mono just try putting a gain plugin on the channel strip and hitting the mono button. That should work.

Hope this helps

Have a good one.

sweet, thats easy way to make stereo mono, cheers.. i was just sick of handling 2 audio objects for something i wanted to be mono anyway... i also changed the stereo mode to interleaved then i could simply set the audio track to mono at the mixer, which isnt available if you select a stereo instrument. so thats sorted.

i still get clicks however on the first note of what iv played, am i going to have to live with this?? also if i loop any audio object it clicks... if i simply play the same audio object with a bars silence on either side there is no click (apart from the initial click of the first note)...???!!!??? is it just logic firing off the signal to start the playback of the file again that is clicking?? its very frustrating.

thnx for ur help Chico, much appreciated.

Is it only occurring when you bounce?

The stuff in that link is pertaining to the clicking that occurs when played back in real time, which of course is then recorded when you bounce down the track.

I should again mention that in ES2 the "Sine Level" sub oscillator is a big cause of clicking. That would be my first place to look. I find it's so bad I just don't bother using it.

hey, yeah i managed to be rid of the click in the instrument at the beginning, just less attack done the job.

i also managed to get rid of the click when looping a sample... it was just the wave form going over the time phrase i had selected so i just cut it out and smoothed out the end.. sorted. im wondering why logic cant overlap the 2 samples without clicking in the same channel, just to save the hassel of chopping 0.001 of a second of waveform out???!!!?.

also, the split second at the end sounds a bit 'airy' now though, i dont know if thats the word to describe it, its like a soft fuzz, not agressive. it happens alot when i smooth out in the sample editor with the pencil, its alright tho, hardly noticeable.

thanks for ur help guys...peace
