HoverPeople
Sorry guys, I've read the manual and tried to do a search on here but I cannot figure it out... The tap tempo window just stares at me! The strip above the arrange window goes blue but i tap my heart out and nothing! Can someone please enlighten me? Cheers
PSPartyband
it works, but what are the end results you are looking for? if you just want to set a tempo you have in your head or hear in a song, it works fine for that. you can't do a retard with it. I think the problem most have with it is two of the settings in the tempo interpreter. one being "max tempo change" for example if you open a default empty song, the tempo is set to 120 and lets say you try to tap a tempo that is around 100. the default max tempo change is set to about 4, so the best you will get is a tempo of 116 no matter how slow you tap. so raise that level and/or lower the master tempo that is already set in the project The other setting that may hinder you is the tap count in. It is set to 4 by default, which means you have to count more than 4 times just to get it started. The 1st couple of times I tried tap tempo, I would tap 4 beats and stop thinking that should establish the tempo, but that was just the count in. once I figured that one out I was able to make it work
HoverPeople
thanks for the reply... i have a exs24 loaded on a track and i'm playing back samples from it. i've set the sync settings for the project to manual as per the manual i've opened the tempo interpreter window as per the manual i've adjusted those settings you mentioned. now what? the manual just says nothing about how to actually use it do i press play and tap? do i press record and tap? do i just tap? sorry, this probably does seem retarded if you've used it sucessfully but i can't get it to change the tempo... i assume that is what happens right? the tempo changes in the transport window... ChicoSatis
Have you checked out SFLogic Ninja's tip #13 in YouTube. He shows you how he does tap tempo. It's pretty straightforward. Check it out. Have a good one.
PSPartyband
once you you put in manual sync mode all you have to do is tap. the default tap tempo key is '
HoverPeople
i would actually like it to sync to a midi event (the press of a contoller key) so i have assigned that key command in the tap tempo section. now those keys start the sequencer running but still no tempo change. i have set the tempo count in to 0 and the tap step to 1/4 so i should only have to tap 4 times to produce a tempo change right? PSPartyband
maybe you should just do it the way the ninja does it. it's not really using the tap tempo, but you will get the results you want
