Logic putting a gap at beginning of region after split?

When I split a region, Logic is putting a little "gap," almost like a fade-in at the beginning of the latter region. You can see it in the wave form. It's not easy for me to describe, let alone understand how to make it stop.

 

The result is that I now have a brief moment of silence every time the region begins. I need to loop them one after another, so I can't have this.

 

Does anyone know how to get Logic to not put a gap at the beginning of a region after a split?

 

Note: all regions have been flattened.
