How to stretch left corner of regions?

How do I stretch the corner of an audio region?

I've made some recordings where the beginning of the audio starts slightly before the first beat in a measure. I am trying to "stretch" the left side of this region to a X 1 1 1 position so I can more easily copy it (otherwise ( have to manually move it to x 4 4 103 every time, which is time consuming and prone to errors

When I pull the left corner of a region... I can't figure out what it is doing. It seems to just zoom all the way to the end of the song without really doing anything.

Has anyone run into this situation before? Any advice?

Thanks!

Not really.

What Logic version are you using?

Have you ever took the manual and opened it for a sec or two just for the sake of curiosity?

Logic 8.

To answer your question: I search the PDF of the manual for anything that I have a question on before I post any questions here.

And didn't find any answers in the huge manual?

Anyway...

Are you sure you are using the arrow tool?

Are you sure there is some more region on the left side? Maybe this is the very beginning of the region and there's no way to drag.

One solution is to create a small region with the pencil tool starting on beat 1 until it reaches your region and when copying, select both regions before dragging.

You can also glue the regions together.

I guess I didn't find the answer because the operation that I was looking for does not appear to exist in Logic. I was thinking in terms of ACID loop-style behavior that you find in programs like Cakewalk Sonar, where you can just pull on the left side of the region to expand it.

I tried adding a new region to the left of the audio track, but it won't let me merge them because the pencil tool seems to default to creating a MIDI region, even though I am adding it to an audio track.

I guess I will just put an empty midi region in front of the audio track and drag them at the same time, as you mentioned. That might work.

Is this how people usually do it? I was honestly surprised that I couldn't just expand the region to the left, even if it was just blank. I guess that's not how it's done in Logic :)

okay, if you, by expanding, mean that you grab it, drag it to the left and make it bigger, then i have NO idea where the problem lies?!

you can "expand" an empty audio region, but expanding already recorded one would be just expanding SILENCE. i have no idea why would you want that?

you set snap to "Smart", you click a region, and you ALT+drag it onto another track?! and its copied in the exact SAME position as the original was, you dont need to align it to x 1 1 1

i really dont get your problem :S

dont try to copy command+c command+v, just alt+drag...
