Automation & midi controller

Just noticed something strange. I have an audio track I'm trying to add volume Automation to, via a midi fader. The channel strip follows what I'm doing but wont write it into the automation lane (in touch mode). It only works when I grab the channel strip fader with the mouse. I've tried what the manual suggests and create a fader instrument in the environment and cable it to the channel in question but still nothing. It moves the fader but doesn't get recorded. any suggestions would be appreciated.

OK I've tried reassigning a different fader on my Midi controller to Volume and it works, but with a twist. Every few bars or so the Automation jumps to a certain level and stays there until I jiggle the fader and then it starts to follow again. I'm not sure if this is a Logic issue or the Controller. By the way I'm using an M Audio Axiom 61. The panning Automation follows without a problem. I've only started noticing this yesterday. Anyone else having similar problems with their Automation?

yea I've had problems like that too -

the deal is that touch really doesn't work unless you have a touch sensitive controller - like the new Euphonix Artist series controllers.

So the work around is to use Latch mode...

I could be wrong - but that's the solution I found - especially when working with Novation Universal.
