4 new L8 Tutorials.. Beatmap... Green & Blue Apple Loops

I made a few mistakes, and will probably do them again, but I put them up for a couple interns, so I might as well share them.

For the Blue Apple Loops, I snipped my original Audio files at 1 bar, instead of my intended 2 bars. And the Loop Utility read the loops at 8 beats instead of 4, so the loops were actually tagged as 140 BPM .. and not 70.

brilliant clips. but one thing... is its it just me, or do several of the links forward you to the sinewave kick vid? i cant get to the marquee tool and the drag and drop ones.

cheers

I noticed that too.

This is probably some iWeb bug.

I managed to open the marquee tool video clicking slightly above its link.

Try it.

And for Apple: Please, fix iWeb.

:)

Thank you for the videos. I watched your "Impulse Response" video and was so happy to see someone using that program! But I have a question: How far away do you place the mic from the speakers when sending out the test tone? The manual is vague.

Also, I am so glad you left the "core overloads" and Logic 8 hiccups in your tutorials, because they are the sad reality...

Thank you for taking the time to do this.

Great work and very generous of you. Thank you. I notice you have done the GUI hack on Logic that i read about in a thread i now can't find. No problems for you? It looks great. I was a bit too cautious to do it at the time i read about it

Great vids.

Thanks.

And I saw (and listened) you worked with DJ Meme.

That's why you have my Rio de Janeiro in one of your Widget clocks?

:)

Nice!

Hey,

Yes DJ Meme is THE MAN!

So talented.

I think he already has big work in Brazil, and now he will soon get that one big world wide hit in the House Music scene.

We are good friends.

Thanks a lot for your Tut's. I must say your pulsing green circle around the cursor is sending me into a hypnotic trance. Is that a good thing? I'm also getting the wrong links going to the sinewave tutorial.

I had people telling me they could not follow the cursor, so I've been trying a few things.

I will look into the links problem people.

Many Thanks!

You need a "donate" button.

Keep up the good work!

I noticed the "Marquee" Link takes you to the Sine Wave Tutorial.

You know, I'm really looking for a good web person to trade with me, and get me up to par with the whole Web Merchant stuff. If anyone here can help, pleae PM me.

Diff distances work. Just point the mics away from the speakers, towards the room.... or walls.

In all fairness, I was capturing video when the overloads happened. I've never had them yet, until then.

BTW, folks, Deepswing is relatively a new Logic user, only a couple of years in, coming from Cubase. So while people complain about Logic's learning curve, he is an example of what can happen when you roll up your sleeves and just do it.

Congrats.

It really only been about a year Jay, 'cause I had to take time to cross over.

You helped me make that decision too! ...and David too, from the Remix hotel free classes.

L8 has really made things much easier too.

Re: the sine wave tutorial.. I haven't been able to locate Logic's tone generator.. perhaps you're referring to the Test Oscillator.. if so then how do you export sine waves from it? I've seen other tutorials about similar subject that you can use the ES M for this but I would like to learn your method.

TIA..

Just set it to the Freq you need, then set a range, solo & bounce.

Some people have suggested that the EXS default bank has the sine waves on the keys ready to go.

I posted a Freq chart download for knowing the pitches on another post I did. You might find that too to help.

I'll look for it too.

very cool.. it worked!

1. loaded Test Oscillator onto a Software Instrument track.. set the frequency (E2 - 82.4Hz) here's a Frequency Chart

2. used pencil tool to create a midi region (16 bars) on that track

3. set track to Solo

4. bounced that track

5. took subsequent mp3 file from bounce and dropped it onto Audio track and Voilà!

I have the sine wave tone ready to use. :)

Thanks..

Trebor
