1pauper1
ok i think the song sounds ok, time to make it final. would i do the fade out on the master track or the out 1/2 ? i'm not sure of the signal flow, as in does the final bounce come from the out 1/2 or the master. i switched from LIVE 7 where you put mastering plugs and automation on the master track. logic's master track seems to be volume only, no place to put any final touch eq or anything. so i guess this stuff goes on the out 1/2 ? if the master track is limited to volume, it makes me wonder what its purpose is. what is done with it that wouldn't be done on the out 1/2 ? or is it just for monitoring. i guess i'm suffering from signal flow confusion, and / or master track relevance / irrelevance . pantomimeHorse
Personally, I would always do fade-out/fade-in work in whatever audio editor I'm using to host the mastering. (Quattro/Peak/whatever) - However, you can get an end-fade by automating the MainOuts of Logic if you wish. - I keep the "Mute" on Master in view to kill the whole studio when some clown is whispering to me from the other side of the room about how he thinks we should change the lead synth to something else ........... - C
1pauper1
so to answer my question, the "bounce" is reflecting whats coming off my " out 1/2 and the master channel is just a monitor ?
pantomimeHorse
No, 1pauper1. - If the Master's down, you won't get anything bounced ! It controls all Logic's outputs, and that includes bounces. - Leave the master at 0.0. Better still, if you're the forgetful sort, get rid of it as an audio object altogether in the Environment. - C
1pauper1
aha, now i get it.set to zero, delete it from the mixer delete it from the arrange tracks and " forget about it " thanx for unconfusing me , pantomimehorse. i'm great at writing and playing, but when it comes to audio editing i'm a freakin' neanderthal. i have a mac pro, all four major daw's, couple grand worth of plug-ins and editors and don't know how to use any of it. just gimme an old fostex 4 track and an acoustic guitar maybe i could figure that out !! maybe

Those were the halcyon days, when we bounced 3 across to make room on another track, then decided that the song ought to be 32 bars longer ............... Logic will serve you well. Watch all the threads for bug fixes and workarounds - Logic8 is a wee bit flaky at this early stage. We all trust Apple are on the case. - C
