Stockwell
Hi, I'm just getting started with Logic Pro 8 and am finding the management/filing of audio files a bit confusing; in particular, where audio files are stored. I use a lot of samples in my music (previously using an Akai S3000) and would now like to create a sample library in Logic (to be used with the EXS24 sampler). I intend to record audio 'samples' from vinyl, drum machines, real synths etc. My question is: What's the simplest way to store my 'sample library' (ie. audio files) all in one place? The Logic workflow seems to lead me to always store audio files by Project but I want to create a general library of samples that I'll then use from Project to Project. Thanks for any help. pantomimeHorse
Hi, Stockwell, and welcome to forum. - Logic's "Project" concept is cool. It means you can LIBRARY your samples, audiobites etc anyplace you choose (a separate, well organised drive is what I do) but then Logic copies what you've used into the Project Folder for the song, so you can move it about between machines/studios, and not have anything missing. - C
fernmeister
There are lots of different ways to do this - depends on how you work. I've taken to putting all my loops into the Apple Loops browser and loading all the samples into custom EXS24 patches. It seems to be the easiest way to acess everything from within Logic for me. Venturi
Further query on Project folders: In the browser, when I click on the project button, to bring up the project folder, I get a list of all the projects in the ~/music/logic directory. My understanding is that I should only get the contents of that specific project folder itself, listing the audio files, logic file etc.. Anyone ideas on why this might be so?
