woodenboy
I've just started using Melodyne plugin, and wondering how I ever lived without it, but... Has anyone worked out a good way of getting Melodyne to save it's files in the project folder you happen to be working in? It's really becoming awkward to make sure I include all the Melodyne files when I run a backup!
camillo jr
Yeah, it has this wacky way of pointing to something like the documents folder. Just put a temporary audio folder from your current project in the sidebar of the Finder (select it and then command-T and drag it up to where you want it) and it will show up in the save dialog. bresnark
Maybe I'm dumb ("you're DUMB!" - the world), but I didn't quite follow that. However, it seemed like very good advice. Could you say it again with different words that a stupid person (like me) will follow?
woodenboy
Mmmmm yeah I don't get it either . I've posted on the melodyne forum, they've taken it on board as a "feature request".
camillo jr
Or maybe I'm answering a question you didn't actually ask! Ok, I think I get the part about saving the melodyne files with your project. So when you do a Save or a Save As in melodyne and the save dialogue comes up, then you'll see a version of the Finder asking you where to save your Melodyne files. Now, I'm using Uno here, so this might work a little differently but I've noticed that when I first get Uno to open a specific audio file from a song, it will create a MDD file right there in the same audio folder. From that point, after I've done all my tweaks in Uno, I might do a save as and the same file browser will come up in Uno asking me where to put the new file. This is the part I don't get, which is that Uno "forgets" where I was just working and always points to my documents folder. A small PITA. So what I do before I get into any Uno stuff is I open a Finder window, look for the very same audio folder from the song I'm working in, select it and do a Command-T, which will put a shortcut to that same folder in the Finder's sidebar (a very useful OSX feature in general). Then, after it appears in the bottom of the sidebar, I drag it up a few folders so its closer to the top of the list. (BTW, you can also drag a folder to the sidebar directly inside the Finder but you run the risk of accidentally dragging that folder into another one that's already in the sidebar. So I use Command-T instead and move it up the list afterward. Later, when you no longer need that folder in the sidebar, you can just drag it off and it will dissapear in a cartoon puff of smoke, much like the dock.) Alright, back in Uno, when I'm either browsing for files to work on or doing a save-as, that audio folder from the project will be there already in the side of the file browser. I use the Finder in this manner all the time, for projects, for folders inside the projects and for anything I want to get to fast when I'm doing a save or a browse, especially if it's going to be repetitious, like when I'm bouncing all the songs from a whole CD project down to one folder. Hope some of that was useful!
prospect
Get into a habit of backing up your audio folders with your documents folder.
bresnark
Ah, I think the problem here is between Uno and Melodyne plugin. THe PLUGIN seems always to save to one set location (though that is editable), and can't be tweaked to save in the current Logic project folder. But yep, this might be a question for the celemony forum, to be honest.
mattrixx
I always set the MeloPLug prefs to point the audio to my current projects audio folder.... Yeah, manual, but at least you don't lose stuff... Make it a habit and everything is fine!
camillo jr
I always set the MeloPLug prefs to point the audio to my current projects audio folder.... Yeah, manual, but at least you don't lose stuff... Make it a habit and everything is fine! So do you reset those prefs each time you change projects? Rippo6
,I am running Logic 8, Leopard, and Melodyne UNO... I am just missing a VERY easy step and wondered if you could offer some help. I know its right under my nose.. I open a file in melodyne UNO and correct it and then save..When I go back to Logic I right click on the fileI want to replace and choose "Convert to new Audio".. It doesnt seem to be doing that with all my tracks. Meaning... some work when I do it and some dont... I dont get it... First am I doing it correctly or is there another way to input the corrected files? I thank you for your efforts.... Ray
instantpop
Maybe I'm missing something, too. When I use the plug-in version of Melodyne I always do an "export" of what gets corrected to a "Corrected Audio" folder that I create in my Project folder. Am I going too far using that process? Could I be streamlining?
