Chowmont
I have had Logic 8 for a month now and I am going to purchase a MIDI controller soon. I have been very interested in the AKAI MPK 49, it looks versatile and effective. After research on the web, all I've read is problems about Logic not being able to recognize the MPK and syncing problems. I wanted feedback on the actual device and If there really is any hassle with the DAW and the MIDI controller. Any information would be useful. Thanks. maxedwards
It's worked well for me so far, and everything has a nice sturdy feel to it. I use a mackie cu so have not setup the transport yet, although there are others on this site that have it working. In any case it blows my old edirol out of the water. If you are a pianist though, you may want to look for a hammer action style keyboard, for a more realistic feel ( keys seem a little stiff on the mpk ). would I go buy the mpk again? yes maybe go down to your local music store and give it a test run. well good luck with it.... Chowmont
What Edirol interface do you have? I am planning to get either the Edirol FA-66 Firewire or a Mackie Onyx Satellite. The Edirol looks pretty stable, and I like the Onyx for the dock that is has.
maxedwards
I don't use edirol for audio, just had their midi keyboard,.. can't speak for their audio performance. I replaced my edirol keyboard for the mpk49. For audio you might want to step it up to a motu or apogee. A lot of people like metric halo on this site as well. I guess motu ultralite and a mpk49 would be solid, and versatile. Cheers
