Guitar Amp Pro question – amp modelling?

Can anyone help me with working out which specific amp types the various options in the Bass Amp and Guitar Amp Pro are supposed to represent?

For example, the Bass Amp – 'American Basic' may be representing a Fender of some sort, but I have no idea about the others. Similarly, I'd take a guess that the Guitar Amp 'British Gain' is a Marshall and maybe the 'UK Combo 30W' models an AC30, but beyond that I'm a bit clueless.

I'd ask the same question about the amp types modelled in Amplitube 2, but that's a whole different level of complexity ;), so I'll stick with trying to find out the amps in Logic...

Is there anyone/anywhere that can help me?

Why worrie about that?

First u select according to sound, not what sound they supposed to be.

2. the amp models in logic are not much more than a nice try, i would not even start to look for father for that child, there not very close.

I get the feeling there classifications 'american classic' or so are more overall sound character judgments and not modeled after a specific model - i might be wrong though.

I believe Leechlife is right they are basically going with the overall american sound vs the british sound. I don't know that you are going to find any actual this setting is a Marshall Plexi and this one is a Mesa Mark I etc. I don't worry about that so much ... I start with the presets and mess from there... I know you would like a reference so that if you are looking for a mesa sound you can start with the mesa amp but it's not really that kind of a tool ... I used to do that too ... but I found it slowed me down alot... trying to dial up a setting that sounds like a specific amp as opposed to what sounds good in the song... cause I have found that I was wrong alot about what I thought would sound good in the song compared to what actually did sound good... so I just figured let the song decide what the sounds should be...LOL

None of these settings are going to sound like the amps they're supposed to be modelling anyways, beyond the most general EQ curves and relative distortion components.

Better just to get sounds that you like with whatever settings work.

New AC30s don't even sound like AC30s...

Now you got the spirit !!! I'm willing to bet once you get used to doing it this way your workflow will actually go faster...just a matter of getting past the mental block of "I'm looking for this sound" I have gotten to the point where I just find a random setting and record my guitars with the thought that I will dial in the tones once I have done everything else. Being a guitar player I always thought that killer tone that I dialed up was gonna sound huge in the mix but... it never really worked. And I started out recording to tape so it meant new tone ... new performances ... lots of time wasted... i love these virtual amps just cause I can do the performance til I am happy with it and worry about the tone later...then if it isnt sitting in the mix right cause there's too much crunch i just play with that until the whole song sounds cohesive... or maybe the solo tone isn't creamy enough or needs delay or whatever... this is the way to go ... I really am starting to think that the instrument that we consider to be our main axe is the hardest one for us to deal with ... If I was a drummer I would probably never be finished mixing or processing the drum sounds....as it is now ... I have a formula that I like for dialing in drum tones... I stick to it for the most part and finish upwith the drums pretty quick... musicians ...quirky folk....

i can say this much for sure

if you have amplitube2 you have no reason

to waste your time with logics GAP. its a toy

they threw in for shits and grins. there was no attempt

to model it after anything. its just a gain plug with buttons

for eq.reverb and lousy sounding distortion.

although the acoustic doubler preset is worth a listen.

Well I guess it depends on what kind of tone you want.. while as already pointed out they aren't necessarily trying to model particular amps ... it doesn't render the plug useless...it has a lot of usable tones...i dont use it in every song ...in fact i would say a little less than half ... for guitar tones ... but I have also experimented with using it on other instruments and even on vocals...
