musick
A great feature of UltraBeat is that a pattern from the step sequencer can be drawn on the arange and generates an event this way for further editing. Even better is that also parameter changes from the 'step mode' (with the yellow outlines around automatable parameters) are preserved in the event in the Arange. But how to edit those parameter changes? I tried 'Move All Region Control Data to Track Automation', but nothing happens. When I try the Hyper Editor and use 'Create Hyper Set For Current Events' I get some lanes, but there is no obvious relation to the parameter changes. Also creating the hyper set with 'Auto Define' and clicking on Control events in the Event List doesn't help. Anybody an idea how I should do this? Or is this not possible in Logic? Thanks! In Hyper edit, create a hyper set for drums. I am not sure what you want to edit.
musick
The 'drum part' I understand, I want to edit e.g. a Filter Cutoff pattern that was programmed in the UltraBeat 'step mode' and drawn from it's sequencer to the arange.
shivermetimbers
I guess you can either edit in UB itself, or use Automation on that track to edit UB. Does this help?
musick
I guess you can either edit in UB itself, or use Automation on that track to edit UB. Yes, I could write 'normal' automation, but creating patterns in the UB sequencer and changing the parameters there works much quicker and more intuitive. I would have expected the parameter automation I created in the UB sequencer to show up as if the automation had been written the normal way (after the sequence from UB is drawn onto the arange). And then of course editing would not be a problem...
shivermetimbers
Create your pattern, drag it into the arrange. Turn automation on, set it to Touch. Select the parameter to automate, hit play and move that control in UB.

Select the parameter to automate, hit play and move that control in UB. Sorry I made my question not clear! I know how to automate an instrument control My problem is: how to edit parameter changes that originate from the UB step sequencer in 'step mode' (where there are yellow outlines surrounding the controls that can be sequence controlled), after that pattern has become an arange event by dragging the sequence from UB to the Arange. shivermetimbers
Your question is clear. However, the Logic instrument manual (found thru the Help section) somewhere around pg 600, only goes as far to say that all edits are done in Ultrabeat and then the pattern is copied to the arrange track. I guess that if you change your mind about the pattern, simply open UB back up, do the Step edit and replace the old with the new.
az85
hey musick, u could use the hyper edit for the job. however, u have to look for the parameter that u want to see manually. i must warn u, this can be confusing and at the same time tedious to do. the way to do this is to select the appropriate "number" in the inspector after selecting the lane u want to change in hyper editor. if u select the right one, then u'll see the parameter data from ub in the hyper editor. one things for sure, checking ur automation will not show u any data. its definitely in the hyper editor u want to explore. az85
oh and one more thing, seeing theres 128 possibilities of getting the parameter u want, heres a tip. use the event editor. this way u can see within the region what parameter changes it contains eliminating the possibilities greatly. personally, i'd follow shivermetimbers' suggestion to edit it back in ub. its much easier that way. but its worth a shot at using the hyper editor if u could grasp the concept and prefer it this way. good luck

That's not realy an option if the pattern has been copied/edited all over the track....
musick
u could use the hyper edit for the job. however, u have to look for the parameter that u want to see manually. I tried to do it that way, with 'autodefine' on in the hyper editor and selecting the events in the Event List to create the hyper lanes. But it looks like there are more events that control one parameter in UB (like an encoded control value). Not very Logic to create events without being able to edit them.... musick
Thanks for the replies! I guess with the current Logic version what I tried can not be done, so I'll do the parameter changes the 'normal' way by writing automation instead of using the UB sequencer.
