nickweston
my assistant's version of Logic 8 on his laptop will not play the E above middle C correctly-very strange. He even re-installed Logic 8 and came up with the same result. Hook up the same keyboard, midi cables, etc. to my laptop running Logic and it works fine, so it's in his computer/Logic. Looked in the Audio/Midi Setup utility to see if there was a note filter or something... I'm stumped. Anyone know why Logic would have a consistent problem with one note? thanks much

David Nahmani
Sounds like a MIDI note learned as a key command. I would try quitting Logic, moving ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.logic.pro.plist to the desktop and restarting Logic. Also move ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.logic.pro.cs to the desktop as well. Then in the key command window, make sure you select one of the factory presets (Options > Preset >...) and see if the MIDI keyboard works properly now? nickweston
All fixed here, but some weird things happened. First of all, my assistant is using Logic Express BTW....I failed to mention that. When I dragged the plist out of the pref folder and booted Logic, there we no plugins or instruments available. But when I dragged ONLY the .cs file out and reset the key commands, it solved the problem. Still wondering why all the instruments and plugins disappeared...oh well. thanks a ton, David! nickweston
Thanks again for helping us so quickly here. I have made a $20 donation to your site- I may get lambasted for this, but I think it would be great if you offered a pay help service for emergencies, etc. Glad to pay for your expertise! Anyway, keep up the good work and thanks again.
David Nahmani
Still wondering why all the instruments and plugins disappeared...oh well. Because when there is no preference file setup, no Core Audio driver is enabled, and all plug-ins are crossed out. If you ever are in that situation again, open your Audio preferences and enable a CoreAudio driver, and you'll see your instruments and plug-ins again. Thanks for the generous donation! I like the idea of a pay service... right now I have more ideas than time to implement them though.
