pizzafilms
So, I'm thinking about doing a gig where I'd be essentially replacing the guitar player. Laugh now... Anyway, I thought I'd try going through some of the guitar patch sounds in Mainstage as a starting point and opened the guitar concert template. The only problem is that all the patches are setup to take an audio input instead of a keyboard. No problem, I thought. So at the concert level, I added a keyboard controller and added a clean strat channel strip from EXS24 and routed it down Bus 32 and used that bus as the input instead of audio 1. All good so far.I can hear it. Even sounds good. I just can't get the sustain pedal to work. I added a sustain pedal in Layout and set it to Press/Release and 64/Sustain. It definitely is mapped and moves on screen when I press it. It just doesn't sustain the sound. What am I missing? Thanks
perversity
I didn't know a real guitar had a sustain pedal
mmm42
So at the concert level, I added a keyboard controller and added a clean strat channel strip from EXS24 and routed it down Bus 32 and used that bus as the input instead of audio 1. Neat idea. Yes, that should work fine. I just can't get the sustain pedal to work. Sustain should always work, even without an object. BUT you might have accidently broken it (by trying different things) Go to layout mode, add a sustain pedal, select "Learn" and assign sustain to it. "MIDI Thru" should be "Automatic". Now it should work. Just make sure nothing is mapped to it in "Edit" mode.
Hicksyfern
Easier method - add a software instrument channel strip, and simply copy over the plug-ins from the Audio strip to the SI strip using cmd-drag. Then delete the Audio strip. I use a sustain pedal but don't have it on the layout as it's not necessary in order to make the sustain pedal work.
