CShorte
Within Logic, is it possible to create a series of steps, like a macro or script that could be executed at a key press? For example, I might want to export all MIDI tracks so that they could be imported into some other sequencer or notation program. The series of steps to do this could be recorded and played back to do it on subsequent occasions. Thanks, CS.
ski
Nope. There aren't any macro functions in Logic.
Subtonic
Sal Soghoian, who's the Applescript manager, once posted here about getting started with Logic, and I remember oohing and ahhing because I love love love Automator and I wondered what kind of automation we could do with Logic Pro. I think he was interested in hearing thoughts on what kind of automation features we'd like for Logic Pro to have - I had a rough time thinking of some. I suppose that if you want to see script support in Logic Studio you should let Apple know. Some other ideas I've had, from an Automator viewpoint: 1 - Select 10 Logic projects to automatically offline bounce and send to Waveburner as adjacent tracks (first in the sequence is the first track, and so on). 2 - Bounce project as mp3 and use automator to email to someone or post to an FTP location. Soundtrack Pro does have Automator actions that do things like resampling, exporting, fading, trimming, and other stuff that I haven't begun to learn about. CShorte
Ski and Subtonic, Thanks for your replies. And, yes, Subtonic, these would be great automation actions to have implemented.

I use Tranzmit FTP and used Automator to create a desktop "Droplet". After L8 bounces, I drag the mp3s onto the droplet and it uploads/does the rest for me while I do other things. Saves some time each day. However, In Cubase I strung Macros together for all types of things. Even strung 8 - 1 bar nudge commands together to create an "8 bar region nudge" with 1 keystroke. (I'm always moving parts up & down the arrange page it seems)
David Nahmani
You may want to look at Accelerando: http://www.logicprohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=13070
clonewar
Accelerando looks pretty interesting, I'm downloading the manual... Macros are the thing that I miss the most from Cubase. They let you string together multiple key commands into a single action that can be assigned to a new key command. A good example is the 'Zoom to fit all' action, which is done in three steps: Select All, Zoom to Selection, Deselect All. In Cubase you can have this command in one keystroke instead of three. The new little Euphonix MC Control supposedly has the ability to assign multiple keystrokes to custom buttons on it's touch screen, which potentially could do the same thing as Cubase style macros.. CShorte
It was the MC Control and past Cubase experience that gave me the idea. Thanks to all who have looked and/or responded, CS.
