Simon R.
Ahhh... just when I thought I had a decent workaround to the lacking "show region content" in L8, I found out it wasn't. I figured that the "snap region size to bar" (or whatever the exact wording is, can't check it out now), which makes all selected regions start on the nearest bar, would be a way to "round" all regions off to only show where there is data in the regions. But no, if I extend my region, say, 2 bars to the left and use this function, it simpy rounds off to the nearest bar, even if there is no content in the region for the next two bars. So... it is just a cosmetic feature to make it all look nice Will someone close to the Logic team please tell Apple to bring back the "show regions content" function, even when regions are not very tall? Just like they look when you are recording one, it shows the data recorded just fine, but nooooo, when you are done recording, all you get is a nice little candy bar with the region name/track name on it This one missing feature of L8 is what I fear will force me back to L7 the most when I start up my big project in 1-2 weeks time. Apple should bring some of the pro (and basic!) features back into L8 ASAP instead of focusing on making it all look pretty...
John DeBorde
What I don't understand is why the midi data shown in regions is often inverted to it's relative position. ie - if a phrase ends low, then the next begins an octave up, it will be shown below the previous phrase. Is this a "feature" or just a bug? Seems like a pretty obvious inconsistency to me. Apologies if this is not relevant to your issue. I didn't get to use L7 very long before L8 came along (switched from DP) so I don't seem to be having the same teething difficulties that others are having. I'm getting work done which is good as I learn my way around, but there are several of these oddities that have me scratching my head. john

They traded the notehead display for what I lovingly call birch bark™ (mini matrix display) and the display is f$(*@!! wrong in exactly the way you described. It's often impossible to ascertain what you've played because what's shown is often inconsistent and incorrect. This was never a problem with the notehead display. Never. It was perfect. I don't think this is a feature. My feeling is that it's either an oversight or a simple shortcoming of this type of display. But speaking if inverting things, if this is indeed a feature, someone over in Cupertino had their head inverted in an "unnatural position in which a flashlight would be needed to ascertain their whereabouts" (if you know what I mean). The birch bark display needs to be corrected, and the notehead display brought back as well (as an option). And the show content also needs to work precisely as it did previously too. Methinks it's time for an update.
