David Aurora
Am I on crack, or is it not possible to organise channels however you want them in Logic? For example, if you've routed your drums to Bus 1 for parallel processing and it's created an aux input next to the master fader, is it actually possible to drag that channel strip over next to the drums? I can't seem to do it but it should be a simple operation
pantomimeHorse
The simplest solution is to make a layer in the Environment which groups together all the Audio Objects you want to use to mix, say, drums, and then use this window view of the Environment in the screenset where you do your mixdown. - You can have as many of these open as you like. It has always peeved me that the drum part Aux's out of Ultrabeat appear miles away from the 1-2 Instrument channel, especially if you have a large-ish mixer setup. - That is the workaround. - C
1pauper1
whether or not you are on crack is debatable, moving the c-strips in the mixer is not. but you don't have to. if you notice the tabs above the mixer window you will see 3 options ; single-arrange-all. highlite the drum track c-strip then select the " single " tab. this will show the specific routing of the drum track . ie ; the c-strips for drums/aux/out 1/2 /master. all tidy prim and propper.this works for any track you hilite. pantomimeHorse
That'll be LogicPro8, then, I guess. Wish we had that in 7. - C

1pauper1
yes, lp8 the mixer view in lp8 gives you the options of showing anything ......just arrange tracks, just audio, just midi, etc. basically the c-strip environment is incorporated into the mixer window and tab-optionrd for viewing your routing any way that you see fit. Wish we had that in 7. - C hey panntomimehorse, i must take a moment to pimp lp8 if you can somehow sqeeze up enough coinage to upgrade to lp8 your life will change. no need for 50 screensets and 20 environment layers just one simple dashboard in the mothership cockpit. now all that "go deep " stuff is still there if you really gotta go there, but 99% of the time its not necessary. it makes life simpler. everything is autopilot and customizable. it even works with MAC"S voice technology. you can voice command any keybord shortcut. i say "open mixer window" and it does it. i haven't figured out how to make it fetch me a beer yet, but i'm workin' on it !!! No, I'll wait awhile ! 8) - From my previous posts you may have gathered my views. I have a stable, rock-solid setup here and it has to stay working on a day-by-day basis to earn its keep. - When the time comes (if it ever comes), the studio will be "paralleled". In other words, I shall get a new Mac, of whatever pro configuration is on offer at the time, the latest LP8, and the OS of choice at that moment. Then, over a period of perhaps three to six months, jobs will be duplicated on both systems to assess performance, bugs etc. - We did this with the move away from Cubase under OS9.2 a few years back, and also with our adoption of DSP-Quattro as a host program for mastering when we ditched SonicWorx Artist from Prosoniq. - I take chances on nothing. - But, thanks for your "promo" ! ! ! ! - C
1pauper1
and the sooner you implement the changeover the sooner your life will change from lp7 on a day-to-day basis rock solid earning its keep to lp8 on a half day-to half day basis rock solid earning its keep !!! twice as fast.........twice the coin in your pocket. lolol....... Rounik
"yeah thats how you do it for audio/midi tracks but ive never seen them in the arrange window. is there actually a way to see them there?" Yes, In the Mixer drag and select over the Aux channel strips and in the local menu choose: Options > Create Arrange Tracks for channel strips (You can also control-click on the selected channel strips and select "Create/Select Arrange Tracks") Cheers
