stephentrask
I have a G% Quad and am not at all ready to ditch it but I do want to upgrade the memory to maximize its potential. Is it worth it to max the system out to 16GB? Is there a brand that people think is best? Basic questions, I know. But I need whatever help I can get. David Nahmani
I have a G% Quad and am not at all ready to ditch it but I do want to upgrade the memory to maximize its potential. Is it worth it to max the system out to 16GB? It's only worth it if you need it. A little like asking: "I am building a house. How many bedrooms should I build? Is it worth it to build 16 bedrooms?" - well, it depends: are you single? Married? With 14 kids? Or just 1 or 2? Etc.... RAM is used by • OS X's code • Logic's code • the project file • the code for all the plug-ins used by the project • Apple Loops in use by the project file • Samples used in the project file • Audio regions set to "Follow Tempo" Typically, you won't need 16G of RAM unless you do hardcore orchestral composition with several huge sample libraries and many many tracks of sampler instruments using those libraries. Personally, I have 6G of RAM in my Mac Pro and find that's enough for my needs (some samples, a couple large sound libraries, few apple loops, few Follow Tempo). stephentrask
I do use huge orchestral libraries and just started with the East West Pianos. So maybe I should max out. Is any ECC memory good?
