mixing multiple songs with logic.....

how do you guys start a mix session with multiple songs say if each arrange has very different setups but generally the same structure. (drums, 2 guitars, bass vocals etc etc) do you consolidate the tracks and import them into the same session? or copy and paste settings between songs? ive never really learned the "correct" way to throw a mix together...by correct i mean the way most people do it,

I generally save the channel strip settings for each track and just load it into the next session. For me, it's confusing to have everything in the same sessions, with all the automation and different tempos and so on.. But there's no right or wrong, you do what works best for you!

Another way to speed things up would be to save your first session (before the actual recording) as a template and then just load it for each new song. This way you get most of the tracks you need to start with and all you have to do is set the tempo and signature and if needed add the extra tracks.

You can copy the audio config in the mixer window and paste it in a mixer window from another song. I don't know if this works for routing but it works for plugins on channels

yeah i was aware of that option, which is great if all the songs have the same track layout and the same bus routing, that copy option only copys bus settings, but doesnt actually create the buses, easy to deal with though.

but im more looking for what do YOU guys do when you have say 8 pop rock songs that you have to mix all together. :D

if you mean for a live or something, bounce your tracks to stems i.e. kick, bass, melody, percussion, or even the individual audio, remove or duplicate the busses to a standard setup (i.e) the same for each song, and mix them together as you see fit. setting up markers is a good idea for jumping from song to song. there are other infinite permutations of this, but for live anyway, I find the simpler the better
