Hricco
Hey guys, I just bought a new mac, a few weeks ago. 8 Core rocking machine, but I want to get another machine to host some soft synths and samples. Mostly the East west symphonic samples, and the Vienna library, and the rest of the East west stuff, Colossus, RA, and some others. do you guys think getting a used G5 Quad core is a good Idea, or will software companies stop making their software compatible with the old PPC processors? thanks
novacainestudio
I use a Dual 2.5 G5 for just that purpose - with an RME9652 card for ADAT outs - its a great card because it has word clock in/out and midi in/out so you don't have to mess with MOL if you don't want to. I think it comes down to $... if you can afford another INTEL machine definitely do that because you now everything will be written for them. If not go for the G5 - at least for now I think you're safe.
