Does anyone have a midi template for a nord lead 2?

I am a longtime Logic user, who is finally after all these years, trying to sync my hardware keyboards to slave to Logic instead of recording just live passes or using softsynths.

Does anyone have a midi template for a nord lead 2? Much appreciated.

You mean an environment? Im bust trying to set one up for my Nord Rack 2X and almost there. Just struggling at the moment to get my external MIDI lane names to match the controller names on my Nord and also for automation to be viewableand editable in the lane itself. At the moment it seems any automation i record in is sent to its own new region where i can view the automation data in the Event editor but not on the MIDI track itself.. If anyone could help that would be great.

Other than this all the rest is setup i.e. 4 part Multi Synth in Environment with all the Nords patch names added into Logic so you can select and recall banks and programs/ patches either from Logic or from the synth. I' ve got 14 Banks of 99 Programs. 10 Program banks (incl. Percussion Kits) and 4 performance banks. what a mission this was!! Phew!!

I am more than willing to post the environment file when done for all to use and share but would love some help on this automation trouble i am having!!

Let's clear up the nomenclature first. In Logic you have tracks which contain regions (audio or MIDI). And laying "underneath" the track is your automation "lane", but it's not usually referred to as a lane in Logic. It's just "automation" or "track based automation" (TBA). There's only one TBA track per track, and it will contain ALL automation events recorded for that track.

Note that this is different from "region based automation" (RBA), which is just a fancy way of saying that controller data is recorded like other normal MIDI data and appears in regions on a track. RBA can be edited using hyperdraw on the region itself.

Back to TBA... in the Arrange window it's possible to have Logic visually separate the different kinds of automation that might be recorded in your (clicking the little triangles to separate out each type of automation event). When you do this you get what appear to be new tracks, but they're really just the same track's automation events broken out into (to borrow your term) separate "lanes". It's a convenient term to use, for sure, but not part of Logic's nomenclature.

Boy, I'm such a stickler, ain't I?

Now... when you're creating an environment for your Nord, are you creating faders for each parameter and assigning them a CC#? If the answer is "yes", then unless you've used special transformers (automation splitters) as part of your environment, your only choice is to record that data as "region based automation" (RBA).

If you want this data to become TBA, you have two choices:

A) use the automation commands (under the Options menu) to move the RBA to TBA, or...

B) use the aforementioned automation splitters (a type of transformer) to actually record those parameter movements directly to TBA. Post back if you want to know how to do this (there are some things that aren't 100% obvious about using the automation splitters).

Hello!

This is just the thread I was hoping to find!! I have recently decided to try integrate my Nord Lead 2 into my Logic set-up, and didn't even think of fixing something up in the environment until I read this thread! Great!

I'll be sure to post some results when I'm done.
