stefrich
Hi everyone, I'd like to know if it is possible to bypass the mi-pre on a Duet. I want to record a U87 with a Neve 1073, so for that take, I'd like to use only the converter on the Duet. Can I ? Thanks
triplets
I don't think the Duet can do that because the mic pre and the input are the same.
Logic Pro
HMMM YOU SURE they are?
triplets
Unless you can bypass the mic pre from the software, I don't think you can do it physically. I don't own one but I've used it and I don't remember if that's possible.
David Nahmani
Surely the Duet has line inputs, right? Then all you have to do is set the desired input to "line" and connect the outputs of the pre-amp to that input. You've now bypassed the Duet's mic pres. stefrich
I will try this (line input) as soon as i'm back home. Thanks everyone !
SirReel
You can do this in either Maestro or in Logic with the Audio -> Open Apogee Control Panel menu selection. Then just set the input to be XLR Line +4 dBu. The options available are Line +4 dBu, Line -10 dBv, Mic, and Instrument. The 2 line options and the Mic use the XLR inputs and the instrument will use the 1/4" inputs. Just just the XLR Line option that matches the line level output of your Neve, I'm guessing the +4 dBu option. You can tell that this bypasses the pre's as the input faders are disabled (the input faders in the Apogee Control Panel and/or Maestro).
