Audio interface (firewire) to replace Tascam US-122

Recommended Posts

My Tascam USB-122 finally bit the bullet yesterday and I am looking at upgrading into something better. My setup is as follows:

1st generation MacBook Pro w/ 2 gig RAM

Logic Express 8

KRK Rokit 5 monitors

MicroKorg

Yamaha DX-7

Yamaha DTXplorer electronic drums

M-Audio Trigger Finger

I guess i would like to have at least 5 inputs (2 keyboards, 2 drums, at least 1 guitar) and something that has really good analog to digital converters?

I've been eyeing the MOTU ultralite firewire...any other recommendations? I would like to get a firewire interface vs. USB. budget would be under $500

Thanks!!!

I'm using the Ultralite and it's great. You have 2 mic pres and 6 additional inputs, 8 outputs, SPDIF in and out, MIDI in and out, and 2 firewire ports to daisy-chain other peripherals like iSight. For 550 at Sweetwater.com I don't think you can get a better one for that price, features, and solid drivers.
