mikiber2
I'm working on a project with alot of tracks, most of them are muted - but with a lot of plugins - my question is - if i bypass a pug-in on a unused track will it free cpu usage- or I must disable it completely ? triplets
Bypassing will do.
David Nahmani
Correct. You could also simply mute the audio regions. When no audio stream reaches the plug-ins, they're inactive and they're not using any CPU. Another way to achieve this is to use the "CPU saving" track mute buttons (Under Preferences > Audio > General > Track Mute/Solo = CPU saving). Then muting the track will save CPU. mikiber2
thanks - just to be clear - muting a region - will not go through the plugin but if i just mute a region it will keep "using" the cpu unless i change the configuration to "Track Mute/Solo = CPU saving" but then muting will be less responsive.. right? David Nahmani
Muting a region = muting a track (in CPU saving mode) = no CPU is used. Muting a channel strip = remote muting a channel strip from a track (in Remote Channel Strips setting) = the audio is streamed through the plug-ins (thus processed by the CPU) and then the output of the channel strip is muted. enertron
you can freeze tracks too, if your song is getting too complex - that way you can hear it with all your fx just right click a track, and click 'configure track header' and choose "Freeze"
