FUELEDBYSOUND
Hi, I have a mic preamp and I have never used it. I currently use logic studio and my question is if it is necessary to use a preamp when I record vocals? Some people say yes and others say no, is it going to improve the vocal sound???? Thanks, Fueled By Sound
triplets
What preamp is it? Is it a cheap or expensive? What mic do you use? What interface?
teamworkmammal
who says no? i'd never consider not using one for vocals, even a terrible one.
marcel72
I'll assume you want to use a mic... If so, you need to have a preamp.
FUELEDBYSOUND
I have a bluetube dual channel preamp and I use a AKG perception 200 for vocal mic. I have not used the preamp yet i have been plugging the mic directly to my m-audio box then into the Mac. It has been working but I would like to know if my vocal sound will improve with an preamp??? Some people say that Logic has a built in preamp so there would be no need to use an outside preamp. I do a lot of dance and R&B music so I am always looking for ways to improve the sound. If any tech out there can help me with this one please. Thanks Fueled by sound
prjkt
ah, so you HAVE been using a pre-amp, just the one built into the M-Audio card you might get a better sound from the Bluetube model though (and there's no such thing as a software pre-amp)
triplets
Logic has a Gain plugin where you can boost the signal, but it's no preamp.
