bit of advice? thinking of upgrading to leopard

Recommended Posts

I did this a while ago.

No big problems, but I prefer Tiger!

I'm sure I'll get used to Leopard though.

I'm not a big fan og the fanning effect from the dock.

If you use Spectronics software (I use Trilogy) it'll say it fails the Audio Unit manager test- but it SEEMS to work OK. You'll get the "Failed" message everytime you run Logic.

Unless there's a particular feature of Leopard you want, probably worth sticking with Tiger?

Only one opinion!

I've recently i upgraded to Leopard with Logic 8. So far so good.

I had a number of other softwares and drivers that needed updates, otherwise they would not work. I do like a lot of the new features, but I don't like that they took away the embeded play bar for audio files in Finder. You can still play them there, just can't see the progress.

My advice is get a copy of Carbon Copy Cloner (shareware)

http://www.bombich.com/software/ccc.html

and clone your Tiger system drive to a firewire drive.

Then you can boot from Tiger clone drive at anytime if you run in to a problem.

I keep my project files on a separate drive.

This way you have a safety net.
