Logic Studio and YouTube

Recommended Posts

So I'm reading that Ski is going out to Cali for a meeting.

Got thinking it would be cool if this were shot, and uploaded to YouTube.

I started getting a pretty bad headache at this point ... why? Because it got me thinking even more about Logic & YouTube videos.

Ouch! My head is really hurting now .... thinking does that to me.

Anywhoo - for the past few weeks I have been interested in Electronic type music. Break-Beat, Jungle, HardStyle, jumpStyle, and kinds of other crap that I don't know how to categorize.

See: when I look up a video on these topics (how to create such music) I usually get something with a guy (or gal) using FL Studio.

I know, huh?

I have always been under the impression that Logic has been (or used to be, at least) the geaux-to DAW for Electronic musicians, etc.

We have to do something about this. I am not ashamed to say that I over the past couple/few years of using Logic - I have made it my DAW of choice over the other DAW's that I have spent hundreds of dollars on: Cubase SX3, Pro Tools (with a Digi 002 Mixer), Pro Tools M-Powered, Logic Express 7, Logic Pro 7, Logic Studio - and I think that is it.

That is a lot of money I have spent on finding my DAW of choice.

With that said - I want to rally as many of you as possible to start posting How-To videos on YouTube - even if it is for something sill y like how to instantiate a Multi-Out instrument.

Yes, yes ... I know there are SFLogicNinja videos, and Mr Mig (spelling), but I want a whole lot of videos which pertain to logic.

If for nothing else - people will be able to see how easy it can be to use Logic; thus buy it! And/or - Apple will see how much attention Logic is getting, and decide to do the same for Logic users - pay us more attention, etc.

I guess my point is that I can't see anything negative coming from this.

Just my 2¢.

As soon as I figure out how to use Screen Capture (and have my voice in there as well), I will be posting some silly Logic videos up.

I would like to challenge you all to do the same- if possible.

I am getting off my soap box now.

Carry on.

.

- iShowU

- SnapzProX

- ScreenFlow

Use one of the above programs.

Better and easier if your mac has a built-in mic, such as MB Pros, MBs, iMacs...

Thank you for the input, sir.

I am using SnapzProX with my MacBook.

I have been trying to record using an audio channel within Logic.

Without an Audio channel.

Speaking directly into the MacBook Mic.

Right now - the conversion process is happening.

Should be done in a couple hundred years or so ....

Yeah.

I know.

I have SnapProX.

For long recording it takes some time.

But I also have iShowU. And there's no conversion after the screen capture.

Try it.

Or ScreenFlow.

ScreenFLow is great.

It allows you to edit the recording after the capture.

And you can have a small window showing you.

Like a PIP TV mode.

The main problem that I am running into is getting my Audio recorded.

here is what I am doing:

I am using my Ozonic as my interface/midi thingy/sound card.

I have run a mic into my Ozonic. I can hear my voice. I can see the video. But when I choose to include the Audio and the Mic track, I get this static hissing.

I have been trying to re-route everything, but I still get it.

So I guess right now the best I can do is have my crappy voice, and some video - but no sound from any instruments that I create ... kinda defeats the whole purpose of what I am trying to accomplish.

I will try the other apps you suggested, sir.

I sure hope they have a free demo.

I think that I like iShowU better than SnapProx.

I was able to figure it out right away.

$20 isn't too bad, either.

Let me ask you - does there other App (Stomp) have it's uses as well?

Or is there something else I should look into?

Thanks

All those apps works better if you are using the built-in audio driver in OSX and in Logic as well.

So I prefer to use my iMac's built-in mic and OXS Built-in driver in Logic's preferences when capturing Logic stuff.

iShowU can have different audio input sources, but using my MOTU 828 was never a smooth operation.

ISHowU uses (and installs) Soundflower by the way.

With Snapz I could never record through my 828 inputs.

ScreenFlow is also great.

Try the demo out.

You can edit, use mouse zooms, etc...

I tried recording my voice through 828 and it worked...kind of.

Cause I think ScreenFlow record in stereo, so the recording was just on the right side (recorded in Mic input 2) with my 828.

That's why I recommend using your Mac built-in mic and built-in audio output.

It's the smoothest way to capture.

And sorry, didn't understand your last question.

;)

there is another app that you can purchase with iShowU.

The app is called Stomp.

I didn't know if you would recommend this or not.

Of if it is even needed or not!

As for ScreenFlow, I thought it looked a bit more impressive than iShowU - but - I am still using 10.4.11 so I can not use ScreenFlow

I was impressed with what I saw, though.

Good input, sir.

Thanks.

Oh, ok.

Now I got it.

:)

No, I don't use Stomp.

And yes. ScreeFlow is awesome.

I just tried it as demo though.
