How to Set-up Logic for 2 Hard Drives

Recommended Posts

Hello,

i'm startin to get the famous "system overload" message when recording.

I', using low sample for low latency, but only using 1 disk to do all the stuff.

How do i configure logic to record to another disc?

i just save the project in the secondary disc??

thank you very much.

I haven't thought about it too much, but I think that's pretty much it.

Where ever you save the project Logic 8 makes an audio folder for the recoded files.

Remember that when a hard drive is 50% full, the read and write speed begin to reduce as the drive becomes more full. I use 3 internal drives on my Mac Pro, striped in a raid-0 configuration, for speed. My system rates around 200 megs per second.

Also if you use a firewire drive, note that the data speed reduces, with more drives on the firewire bus.

I have all of my save files on my external firewire 800 drive and it works well. Just did a 3 mic drum recording session the other day with no problems. Didn't do to bad when I had a firewire 400 external either. Essentially once an external mounts Mac uses it pretty much like an internal.
