robskey
Hi there I switched to Mac since 6 months to enjoy Logic, Mainstage etc. I am still enjoying every moment with it. What I notice that (maybe becasue software changes in the automatic updates) my Mac is becoming a bit slower (HD has still got plenty of space left) My question is: Is there a program available that I can use to clean up temporary files, etc?. Not necessarily freeware Regards Rob
David Nahmani
Mac OS X automatically cleans temporary files and clears cache files at night. Just leave you mac on at night and OS X will take care of it, you don't need 3rd party apps. If you absolutely must turn off your computer at night, you can get Onyx. Personally, I don't use it. However, I don't think that's the reason your mac is getting slow. How about your hard drive? How big is your system drive, and how much space is there left available? What kind of system are we talking about anyway? --> http://www.logicprohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=26343 PS: in computer technology, MAC is something very different from Mac. I've edited your post to replace "MAC" with "Mac".
robskey
Thanks a lot. I have changed my profile as well. As you see, my HD is 160 GB of which 110 GB is still available (I have only installed Logic Pro,Ableton) Regards Rob
dkgross
as long as you're not recording audio to your internal drive (use an external Firewire one), you should be fine. And remember, RAM is key. The more the merrier.
DocBop
There are a few downloadable tools to help with basic maintenance. Such as running Apple clean up scripts without having to leave computer on or running them manually from a terminal window. The tool I use is called Onyx and it let you do lots of maintenance tasks and OS X customizations without living in the terminal window. http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs/english.html There are others, but I have had good luck with Onyx.
