majool
If you don't already know about Touch Tracks, take a minute to learn how they work in the manual then read on. I've been having a lot of fun using Touch Tracks and my MIDI keyboard to trigger automation events and track mutes/bypass (etc). It's really easy, you just need to know how to convert track based automation to region based automation. So, 1 - create a region of any length. 2 - open track automation and draw a "mute on" message (just one) on top of the region at its start 3 - go to Options>Track Automation>Move Current Track Automation to Region 4 - mute the region 5 - drag that region to a note slot in your Touch Tracks window 6 - repeat the process (steps 1-5) with a "mute off" 7 - select your Touch Tracks track and play the two keys to trigger your mute messages. You can use your MIDI keyboard to make a very simple, but powerful control poor man's control surface this way. Remember, this works with automation as well, so if you've got some killer filter sweep patterns that you're always using with the EXS24, just convert the automation data into a region, mute it and leave it on an EXS track, then drop that pattern into a note in the Touch Tracks window. This makes for a much more fun (IMO) way of doing automation. The only caveat is that Touch Tracks are monophonic which means only one message sent at a time. Have fun!
