How do you set an Apogee Duet to control playhead?

Recommended Posts

Sorry if this has already been answered elsewhere, I did a search but didn't find anything in these forums, but I am sure it is a problem others have also had.

I have an Apogee Duet running with Logic Pro 8.0.2 and supposedly you can set the main control knob on the Duet to act as a scroll wheel for the playhead in Logic, but I can't seem to get it to work. Anyone managed to do it successfully, and if so how?

I spoke too soon. I thought I once had this working. Did it work under Tiger?

Here is reply from Apogee:

This is a known issue that will need to be fixed by Apple. They are aware of the issue, but I do not have any information about when it will be fixed. I apologize for any inconvenience. Here is a temporary workaround:

- Activate the MIDI controller functions in Maestro.

- In Logic, open a project. On the main toolbar, right-click and select customize toolbar. Add the Learn icon. Click the Learn icon and go to expert view. Move the Duet rotary encoder so it is recognized under Input message. Adjust the controller Assignment parameter as desired and save it. Here are some basic settings:

Class: Global

Parameter: Playhead

Under value, choose Scaled for the Mode.
