Sniper
Hi People, Couple of things that have me saying "What the #^#)(". 1)I recorded Drums the other Day, I did one take, which was OK. Then recorded over to get a better TAKE. On play back, logic played the first tracks, not the latest recorded. I founf the new tracks under the first ones. Shouldn't the newest track come to the top of the pile? 2)There has been a few times that there was no Wave form in the track but there was audio. Any Ideas Thanks
David Nahmani
You usually don't want to "pile up" Regions on top of each other on the same track. Every time a new Region starts, Logic will stop playing the currently playing Region to jump to the new one. You can view all your takes at once by creating new tracks assigned to the same Audio Object: Track > Create. Easier yet: Track > Create for Overlapped Regions is going to take care of it for you. Sniper
IThanks David for your reply, I guess part of my problem was : On my drum takes Logic continued to play the first Region. It did not jump to the new one. I get the Track > Create. and the Track > Create for Overlapped Regions. they are neat feature. But what about "punch ins" don't they pile up? On the Overlappinr track. Would you cut out the unneeded wave file then put it back into a single track? Thanks
David Nahmani
Use the 'replace' mode to avoid overlaps when recording/punching. Third button on the second row of buttons on the Transport Display, the one with an 'X' in the middle.

groovecake
So Logic will only create new tracks when you do "cycle" record, correct? I am still not sure why, like in the first post, the first take plays and not the most recently recorded one. That seems counterintuative.

That seems counterintuative. No, it's the most recently recorded one that plays, only it is placed at the top as older takes are moved downward onto newly created tracks (in cycle mode). If you're talking about individual takes rather than cycle mode, like the original post of this thread, then ... the solution is just to never work like that. It doesn't make much sense to have overlapping Regions that start at the exact same position, since you cannot determine which will play.
