Jazzooo
I beg you not to tell me to RTFM. I have fallen alseep with one of the three manuals on my chest every single night for the past week. I have learned a tremendous amount and have actually recorded three test songs in the past 24 hours. But I'm cramming to pack up all of my gear and move to Mexico for three months, and I'm leaving in 36 hours, and I'm not only running out of time, I can't make sense of the manual anymore. If someone wouldn't mind, would you please give me the idiot's guide to the following tasks: I have some sample CDs I'd like to load into the sampler--some are audio, some are data (Akai format). How do I get them into the sampler? And second, I have some music projects on my VS2480 that I'd like to load into Logic so I can work with them over the summer. I'm happy to stick with stereo mixes--I just need directions for loading them into a new Logic song. Finally, there's one song with multiple WAV files I'd like to load into a new song. Different procedure from the scenario above? Many thanks. I promise you, I'm not a slacker. I'm just in a jam and nothing I'm reading is connecting for me right now. David Nahmani
Audio CDs... you have to create your own instruments. Go to Audio > EXS24 Instrument Editor and Instrument > New, then drag and drop your audio files onto the desired keys on the keyboard. Akai CDs... same thing then Instrument > Akai import, then pop in your Akai CD.
David Nahmani
As for the VS songs... if you can get an optical from the VS to your audio interface, that would be a quick way to do it. Set your audio interface's digital clock to external and press play on the VS. Otherwise do that with analog cables. I'm not sure of the format of the songs on the VS... or maybe you can record the songs on a CD and then rip the CD and import the Audio in Logic. Probably easier... (if you can record CDs with the VS?).
Jazzooo
man, am I glad you never seem to sleep, David! Thanks. "I'm not sure of the format of the songs on the VS... or maybe you can record the songs on a CD and then rip the CD and import the Audio in Logic. Probably easier... (if you can record CDs with the VS?)." I can record CDs. Any help on 'importing audio'? I'm doing backups right now. Not sure why I thought to say that, but I just didn't want you to think that I was sitting around watching Letterman.
David Nahmani
Haha.... (laughing at the letterman joke) Well importing Audio is the easiest thing in the world. Pop your CD in the CD tray, close it, select your CD in the Finder, and drag and drop the files onto your Arrange window. Make sure you work with a Project so a copy of the track you drag and drop is made in your project's Audio Files folder.
