ging
Just wondering what has worked for any of you in the past. I'm most familiar with PT where you can route the mix from the send of each channel to a physical output. Seems the most logical to me. A problem that I run into is to get a mix starting point. Protools has copy to send. Those are my 2 dilemas. If anyone can give me a hand. I track drums tomorrow morning. (Monday) Thanks -Ging PS I'm using a FF800. Would it be best to route it from there? I don't want to be going back and forth between mixers though.
David Nahmani
Let's say on the Fireface you're using Out 9-10 for your headphones. Use the send to send all tracks to a Bus, let's say Bus 10. Create a Bus 10 Object and set its output to Out 9-10: that's your headphones master channel strip where you can add reverb and adjust the level. You can even go to Audio > Configuration and in there to View > i/o labels to name your Bus 10 'Headphones'. Give it a shortname like 'Hdphe', that's what is going to show up in your 'send' rectangle on the track channel strips (so you know you're adjusting the headphone mix from there). Thanks David, A fairly obvious solution that I missed. Is there anyway to copy the mix to the send like in Protools. -Ging
David Nahmani
No. You could mix to a Bus, meaning you could set the output of all your tracks to 'Bus 1', then use an Aux object (input set to 'Bus 1') to send to the headphone mix while outputing to Out 1-2.
