zaque
Hi folks, I recently moved my studio out of my house into a new space with my production partner. I would like to get a copy of Logic to use at home on my Powerbook when I'm not in the studio but frankly I'm not willing to spend another thousand dollars for an additional copy and I don't want to travel with the dongle (that way lies pain...). Is there any way that existing Logic users can get discounts on additional copies? What about Competive Upgrade pricing? I use other DAWs and would be willing to use them for a competitive upgrade to Logic. I'm not seeing any pricing options on the Apple site but perhaps there is an unadvertised way? Any suggestions greatly appreciated! #!/zach
David Nahmani
Not that I know of, but your best bet is to call Apple to find out.
zaque
I just called Apple and as you expected there is no discount option for existing Logic users nor is there any longer the Competitive Upgrade option. That is rather disappointing but also not terribly surprising. I am now considering buying an old copy of Logic (5 or 6) used and then paying for the upgrade fee. Does anybody know if the old XSKey's are still supported of it you receive a new XSKey with the upgrade? Has anybody else gone this route and have you had any problems? I've heard rumors that the old XSKeys will no longer be supported and if they fail you are SOL - is that really true?
Tabnetic
make friends with a college student. buy the program at a really cheap discount with his/her student id. buy student the first non-ramen noodle-lunch they've had in ahwhile. ... problem solved. 8)
David Nahmani
One of my old Logic 4 blue XS key has been upgraded to Logic Pro 7.2.1 with no issues whatsoever. Upgrade packages do not contain an XS Key. I'm sure you can expect the same level of service from Apple whether your key is blue or white.
