overnight
Logic newby here.... Two very annoying things that I cannot seem to find a solution for: 1. I've edited a vocal track by cutting the spaces out in-between lines and put quick fade ins & outs before and after each of the vocal lines. It works like it always does, like a manual noise gate. Here's the curious thing... at the beginning of the song before the vocals even come in, in an area where there was no vocal before nor any sound at all I get an *occasional* brief second of the vocal line that's about to come in. About one or two seconds before the vocals start I hear half a word or a breath or whatever. It's never in exactly the same spot not is it the same sound. It is though alwaays happening on only the vocal track and shows on the meter. And it does bounce down but again, not always. 2. I'm recording a drum set, 10 tracks. I set everything up, getting signal to all channels viewable on each of the meters. I arm all the tracks for record, hit record, it goes back into preroll, approaches the start marker and then... nothing. It's not recording. The record button is lit, the bar at the top has turned red, we should be go-time but nothing's happening. I dis-arm all the tracks, record to one track only and I'm able to record. I re-arm all 10 tracks and then voila, we're in business, it's recording. So far I've had 4 drum sessions in the last few weeks and it started like this 3 out of 4 times. Wierdness. thanks in advance.
David Nahmani
1. That's a reverb tail finishing. You need to play a couple of bars of silence before you can get rid of those and bounce without this issue. Annoying, I agree. 2. Never seen that problem before. Maybe try to move your preference file to the desktop, and repair permissions. It would be interesting to know if others here have had that problem before? overnight
I have no reverb on the track and it's before the vocals even begin. What's strange is that it does this with no other track. I think you might be onto something in that it might be a misfiring plugin. I have a third party delay on that track. I'll investigate. While I'm at it here's another anomoly. I'm playing a song back and track that has no hyperdraw, no automation at all will suddenly jump in volume, sometimes alot. It's always a jump, never a dip. What's interesting is that doesn't happen with the songs where I've got lots of automation and stuff going on. It's almost always while I'm sketching out ideas with less than 10 tracks and haven't gotten into editing at all. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. David Nahmani
It could be anything, and yes, Logic will play it even at the beginning of the song. It's just audio that wasn't finished playing. You could place the SPL at any point in your song and press play, you're going to hear that audio. In your case it's most probably the delay. Please start a new thread for each new issue to keep things clean and more importantly searchable... and also I encourage the use of a descriptive title related to the issue: again for search purposees.
