How do you get natural sound from live recording of marimba

Recommended Posts

I am new to Logic Pro, I have tried to edit my recording of the marimba using the EQ, but the marimba still sounds kind of electric. If you listen to it using good headphones or speakers then it is fine, but on a laptop speakers, etc it sounds terrible, when other recordings sound great. You can see what I mean if you look listen to the recordings. Check them out at www.myspace.com/gillianmaitlandmarimba look at either prelude, or gigue or a little prayer.

I use good quality mics, I'm just looking for some advice on the editing part. Marimba can be tricky as it is such a big sound, and the vast range makes it difficult to get the right setting for each end of the marimba.

I'd appreciate any advice.

Thanks,

Gillian

Everything is going to sound like crap out of laptop speakers. C'mon, they're laptop speakers! ;)

While I see what you are saying, other recordings of the marimba which have been edited sound like a marimba, these recording which I have done, and am trying to edit, don't sound like a marimba, which is why I am trying to find out how to edit them on logic pro. If you have any helpful suggestions then please let me know.
