Tracks 17 - 32 of default Template, Why?

Hi until recently I've been using Logic to record audio, I use the Audio Instruments and I have created a midi environment to enable me to use my hardware (virus c & nord lead 3).

When I create a template i always delete the GM instruments, just recently I've been looking at Midi Files of songs (more questions to follow on this), and it's got me thinking about these tracks.

Do I need external hardware to make these work ?

And if so, what hardware would you recommend ?
