David Nahmani
The most stable system is to use two computers (not necessarily towers, a mac mini will run Logic just fine). And sync both using MTC. Keep in mind you'll get some lag. Meaning it can take a second when you press the spacebar before the song starts playing. Can be annoying at times. Any particular reason you want to do that? Cause if you don't have one, you'll be happier picking either PT or Logic and stick with it.
joel-schmoel
hi, just thought i'd jump onto this thread with a (vaguely) related question. we're planning to run a PT HD3 rig with a mackie dxb desk. I'm a logic user, and would like to run logic as the "front end" of the system. the other guys want to record and mix in PT. is this possible, and if so, what are the pitfalls i need to look out for- file compatibility, hardware issues, drivers etc? cheers joel
dtl1232
the reason to use both pro tools and logic is that (for me) you cant put an effect on only part of a region in logic without separating it to a different track. In pro tools you just drag the area you want to effect and use the RTAS plug in to do so( i use logic express right now if you can do this in pro let me know). Also what is MCT or whatever you said to sync both computers together? triplets
You can use automation in Logic Pro to just have a certain part of a region to be affected. I don't remember what you can automate in Express.
