Thanks Regards PJ Studios NZ
David Nahmani
You should be able to use Markers in Express.. do you have the latest version? (the previous ones had that feature limited).
PJ Studios
My version of Express is 7.01 I bought it in April 2005. It must count as an early one. Can I upgrade this without cost? I was incorrect about my Powerbook it's a 1.67Ghz OSX 10.4.6 Tiger with a Gig of RAM. Thanks for your help. PJ Studios NZ
David Nahmani
Well you will have to pay for the upgrade. I'm not too sure how the Express pricing works... Oh there you go: it's $29. http://www.apple.com/universal/crossgrade/

I have Logic Express 7.2-and I can't seem to find the markers feature-where is it?
David Nahmani
Options > Markers... Or key commands.
Fred B
Options > Markers or key commands for markers are not available in Express... To create a marker hold down option and click the timeline in the lower section, at the top of the arrange window. To remove one option-click the marker, drag it out of the timeline and just drop it in the arrange window.
BabyaSoftwareGroup
Thanks Fred B-option-it worked:option-clicking on a region created a marker for me.
Fred B
Well, in Logic's terminology "regions" are objects on a track. Thus for creating a marker you don't really option-click a region but the timeline's lower section. Also, there is another trick with markers in Logic Express: you can't create a marker on the right side of an already existing marker. So for creating multiple markers you have to proceed from right to left.
logic673
I have to say that the marker situation in Logic Express, esp the fact that you can't place one in on the right of an existing marker is amateurish at best and downright stupid at worst. What kind of a program forgets or makes it impossible to place a marker? Surely not efficient. When will this be fixed?

I just found out that Option/Apple allows you to place a marker on the timeline to the right of an existing marker.

logic673
Thanks for disclosing the mystery! The biggest mystery is that there is no documentation on any of this and in fact the markers in Express are just barely useable. Can the Logic moderator join in here and give us some more info on the marker situation in Express. The makers do not work as is described in the Logic Pro arena and I know that Pro is a more detailed app, but really, markers? Virtually every app under $500 has them in some useable form. And why nobble the marker function? Some informed info in this area would be most welcome.
David Nahmani
Can the Logic moderator join in here and give us some more info on the marker situation in Express. I would have loved to join in on the discussion but sincerely I am not really familiar with Express. I have used it a few times but never tried to create markers. In Pro, you can create markers: • Through Options > Marker > ... • With one of the 35 or so Marker key commands • Using the Marker Global Track • Using the Marker List • Using the lower third of the Bar Ruler
