MPC2500 on logic?

Recommended Posts

hey guys, i am considering buying a sampler but was wondering if any of u had advice on what to buy and its compatibility on logic. So far i have looked into the MPC2500 and it is very impressive if i could just gather your thoughts on samplers and their functionality on logic it would be most appreciated. :D

I used to use the MPC1000, which was a great sampler and drum machine. When I added logic to my setup, the mpc wasn't necessary anymore. I ended up only using the mpc for the pads - the pads can send midi to logic. Logic has the exs sampler plus the ultrabeat drum machine/sampler, so you don't need to buy a sampler. I finally sold the mpc. I use a korg nanopad (they are great) for drum pads, and all of the sampling and sequencing is done in logic.

it seems you may be better off just getting a pad controller. If you buy an MPC you're paying a lot more but only getting functions you can do in logic anyway and the mpc is limited to that little screen. check out the pad controllers from akai and korg. you can combine them with the logic instruments. you can also check out plugins like battery from native instruments, guru from fxpansion, phatmatik from izotope. or maschine from native instruments if you want a groovebox hardware/software solution.

i find that ultrabeat is excellent so don't need a 3rd party drum machine/sampler - my opinion.

that's just my opinion. i think other people may like using an mpc with logic.

I am actually one of those people that still likes to use my MPC. I use the MPC1000. I guess it kind of comes down to the feel that you like. I use mine to control my drums in Logic, unless the project calls for something that just makes more sense for a DAW (snare roll for example.)

My other reason is kind of a personal plus for my setup. The MPC1000 is great for me to cart to another location, throw on some headphones, and plug away at a sample, drum pattern, or bass line. I used to use my laptop for that, but honestly it just takes too long. With the MPC, I can just turn it on and work away without waiting for other programs I am not going to use to start up.

There are of course numerous ways to do the same thing much cheaper, but I just love the feel of my MPC.
