Rundfunk
Hey guys, I think im going to buy the MiniKP by korg. I just want to know...do XLR cables have a better quality than 1/4 jacks? I need a dual RCA - dual XLR (Male) cable, but i cant find one in the U.K ANYWHERE!!! I can however find a dual RCA - Dual 1/4 Jack, but i not sure about the quality difference? fuzzfilth
Did it occur to you that neither the 1/4 nor the XLR might be the weakest link, but the RCA ? Go with a 1/4 connector, it's more than adequate. Christian

Rundfunk
so what your saying is that i should go for the Dual 1/4 jack - dual RCA cable? :P

You need a dual RCA - dual 1/4 cable. It's important to tell the guy in the shop you need RCA - 1/4, not 1/4 - RCA. Christian
bscenefilms
The noise canceling characteristics of a balanced connection with XLR OR 1/4" TRS connections is the same. Just FYI.
pantomimeHorse
The advantage of XLR connectors (and this applies somewhat to the much-maligned RCA phonos, too) is that the connection is made by a pin being totally contacted by a sleeve. In a TRS ("jack") connector, the contact area is actually very small, because it is a spring blade making point contact with the plug tip/ring, and is therefore more susceptible to contamination by dust, corrosion etc. So, mechanically, the RCA makes a sounder connection than a TRS. - pH
Rundfunk
so it's settled then?! I definitely need a dual RCA - 1/4 Jack cable like this then yeah? http://www.dv247.com/cables/dv-studio-cable-dvsccpr202-2m-dual-phono-dual-jack-audio-cable--28258 The RCA connections will be going into the MiniKP and the TRS's will be going my monitors, all good?[/url]
pantomimeHorse
RCA phono one end. - XLR the other. (If that suits the sockets you have) UK supplier: http://www.studiospares.com/Leads-XLR/Xlrma-Phono-10M-Green-/invt/579215 - pH

I call it a Kaiser blade. I likes me some french-fried po-taters. Mmm hmm.
