Editing REX and WAV in the Arrange Window

Greetings from a new Logic user. I'm having a blast chopping and creating new loops in the arrange window. So far I've used waves but I noticed REX files are better because the audio file is split into slices. What's weird is that the REX file appears as one region in the main arrange window. I have to double click the region which brings up a new window where I can see the slices. Is it possible to move slices from multiple REX files and create new regions? Or am I better off manually chopping up WAV files? And if so is there a feature in Logic that would chop a WAV into slices based on transients (like Recycle)? Hope I was clear enough. Thanks.
