Routing Outboard Effects [SOLVED]

Cousin Jack

Recommended Posts

Hi !

My apologies if this topic has been covered before.

How can I route an outboard effects unit into Logic (Pro 7)?

I wish to route the signal through the effect before bouncing down for the final time.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Cousin Jack.

I guess I see your point about the search.

Normally, you use the I/O Insert (found in the Utilities) and connect the ins and outs to your outboard equipment. The insert is usually placed last in the effects line unless you use it for other specific purposes.

It would help if you listed what equipment you are using etc... (See forum guidelines).

If you are doing searches, using the Command + F will help refine the search to whatever key words you want to narrow it to.

Shiverme....

do you have to use that i/o thing. I am moving over from 20 years of MOTU;s P/DP.... Been spending my nights (after session work) -watching ELi and Doug's logic vids... trying to make the switch happen quicker. - I saw the video today on the outboard FX thing - .... Right now I have my outboard fx connected into my MOTU interfaces (2408mkIII, 24i/o, and an old 308) - I dont bounce - I mix through a summing box and then back in through my apogee into my DAW to drop the stereo mix (THAT is a whole other issue).... anyway... in DP, I couyld choose the inputs of those fx as a mono or stereo send channel on ymt rack.... then I dial in what I wanted... and then assign an audio track, with its inputs set to the corresponding FX... and drop the fx as audio., - In Logic - can it be doe this way ???

Yes, the I/O insert or the channel strip output can be routed to suit your needs.

I also like to go directly out to an external mixer/processor and eventually bring it all back in for more tweaking.
