Keeping all instruments loaded when switching between files

Hi

Apologies if this has been discussed - I've searched the net and this forum and couldn't seem to find anything relating to it.

Basically, I am writing 2 pieces of music with the exact same instruments being used in each (30 MIDI instrument tracks). I have them both open, but each time I switch between these 2 files, I have to wait a long time to wait for all 30 instrument samples to load up, even though they're identical on each file.

Is there a way where you can keep all MIDI instruments loaded throughout your Logic session? For argument's sake, it's just very annoying when one file loads up the exact same set of instruments you've already been using on another file, just to copy a region across.

I thought I stumbled across a way where you could keep all instruments loaded provided the file was open, even if it wasn't the active window, but I can't remember where it is.

Thanks very much in advance, any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm using Logic 8.0.2 if that makes a difference.

Thanks

Jack

The only facility for this innate to Logic is within the EXS-24 sampler, where you can enable a function to keep common samples in memory. However, in my experience it's not a perfect system and doesn't always work as expected.

Rather than elaborate on the possibilities, it would help to know exactly what plugs you're working with.

Thanks for your response.

I am using a combination of EXS-24 and Kontakt 3 (with all the EWQL samples). Is there anyway to keep all common samples from these 2 plug-ins in memory?

What sort of problems did you experience? I would like to try it anyway if possible, just to see if it helps.

Many thanks again

Jack
