1005
I got my MV-8000 to control Logic (using only midi out from MV to Logic's Midi In) so, that when i press play in MV, the Logic will start it's sequence also. This way i have been able to record midi sequences from MV to Logic, alltho for some reason logic jitters everytime the loop starts over (any reason for this?). Before this, i was trying to control Logic with my MP-7 command station, but for some reason Logic did not understand any syncing posibilites. i could record the midi data into Logic, but not in sync. Then, i connected my MP-7 to MV ( i like MP-7's pads better) via MP-7's Midi out into MV's Midi in. Now, i could control both MV and Logic's AU's on MP-7 (but not in sync). I happened to notice that MV-8000's Midi device id was 17. Ok, i thought i'd switch MP-7 into 17 also.. and Logic started to play when i pressed play on MP-7! This seemed great so i took the MV out of the equation, and tried again. NOTHING. When MV is in between, the sync seems to work (except for jitter?) , but when i try to control the Logic with MP-7, sync just doesn't work. what could be the issue? this really bugs me, cos with Cubase, the sync between software and MP-7 was quite flawless. i could get rid of the MV-8000 if this would be solved.. 1005
any ideas?
fader8
any ideas? Impossible to provide any advice on this without knowing: 1. What it is you're ultimately trying to achieve. 2. Are you trying to use MMC? Master? Slave? 3. Are you syncing with MIDI clock or MTC? Master? Slave? 4. What version of Logic? MIDI interface? 5. Logic Sync settings. Logic Sync settings. 1. run sequences from MP-7 and Logic (audio, midi) simultaneously 2. I'm a n00b in this, no idea really. whatever would work. 3. same here. i could run both at the same tempo, this would be enough close for me 4. Logic 8 express, swissonic midi 1x1 usb interface 5. seems to me i've tried them all. i did the enviroment for MP7 also. can't find any setttings for midi device id from Logic tho. fader8
2. I'm a n00b in this, no idea really. whatever would work. Then you need to spend some time with the manuals for your hardware and for Logic. Can't help you with specifics as I have no idea of Logic Express sync features and I'm sure they're limited compared to LP8. But the easiest thing is to have LE transmit MIDI clock to your hardware and simply have the hardware slave to that. If you can get that much working without disastrous MIDI loops, you'll be ahead. Believe me, i've gone through the L8 manual, it's no use when it comes to syncing external stuff. sflogicninja's youtube-clipse were wayy more useful, but didn't still get me on with the MP-7. With my Roland MV8000, i was able to get the MV to start sequences in Logic, but i'd rather use MP7. Basically, it seems like Logic would not send the midi start / stop messages at all. Also, if indeed they have cut some midi features which are needed into sync from L8 express, they sure as hell haven't mentioned it anywhere.
