Tobiasnyc
Hello everyone, I am in the process of upgrading my mac with RAM and a new system drive. Is there any benefit in paying extra for a superfast drive, like the Raptor? Other than overall snappiness I wanted to know whether it gets more performance out of Logic and audio applications in general. Your insight is greatly appreciated. Kouly
Yes and yes. They are a fundamental part of my system. One warning their newest drives (300 GB) will not fit in a Mac Pro now that they changed where the connector is on the drive. Not sure WHY they did this. If you can find the 150GB you will be pleasantly surprised at the performance.
Tobiasnyc
Hi Kouly, Thanks so much for your reply. I have had mixed responses, and yours wins me over a bit for investing in a raptor. I'll check out the backpane issue - thank you for the warning. We almost have the same hardware specs, so if you say it improved processing power for things like Logic, I am willing to put down the cash. Thanks again. Kouly
Your welcome. My Raptor drives have helped reduce the time it takes Logic to read and write to the drives so overall performance is improved. I was so impressed that I went and bought 5 of them. They have performed flawlessly.
