jarnld
In protools if you highlight a section of audio and hit apple+E it creates a new region. You can do the same thing in Logic by selecting the scissor tool and cutting twice. How can I highlight a section of audio in Logic 9 and then make both cuts at the same time? What is that called in logic so I can set up a new key command? Thanks!
David Nahmani
It's called "Split Regions/Events by Locators or Marquee".
jarnld
i tried assigning a key command to that and then selected a section of audio to test it out on and it cut every track...not just the one i was trying to edit...I had only selected that one. Am I losing my mind?

Am I losing my mind? How do you select the section of audio? I just use the Marquee to highlight just one region, then use that key command, and it only splits the highlighted region, not the others on other tracks. Alternatively you could try "M" to mute the selection, and "M" again to unmute it. The first time you mute it'll split the region, then when you unmute it it will not heal it again - so you're left with a split region.
jarnld
ive been using 'm' to get the job done but thats one extra step i shouldnt need to do. Ill use the marquee tool and highlight a section of audio. I assigned the command to apple+e. when I hit apple+e it cuts all tracks that are in line with the region that Ive selected on one track. I jsut dont get why it would cut all the tracks and not jsut that one....
