rsandifer
Ok.....lets see if I can explain this. I have all of my stems 3-16 going to a summing mixer so I can monitor the summed sound. It is possible to also route each channel to a 2 track out on the stereo out 1/2 in LP9? This would allow me to A/B the summed non-summed separately. Summing is done through a Shadow Hills Equinox Converters are lynx auroras. Thanks for any assistance
fader8
It's not clear what you're trying to achieve. What do you mean by non-summed? If you output all tracks to 1&2 then they are summed.
rsandifer
Sorry about this. What I want to do is send my stems to my summing mixer. Logic 9 is telling me that 1/2 is my stereo send. My summing mixer treats 1/2 as the DAW input only so my stems have to start at 3-16. My summing mixer has a switch that separates 1/2 from 3-16 In the DAW position you cannot hear channels 3/16 In the summed position you cannot hear 1/2 I need to send all of my stems SUMMED in logic to 1/2 AND stems 3-16 to the analog summing mixer. This way I can A/B the mix. To add more confusion I am also returning the analog summed outputs BACK into a channel on logic to record the summed stems
camillo jr
Well that makes it simple if you continue to use your summing mixer to A/B the mixes. If we assume no auxes on the busses which carry your stems (since you are doing the processing OTB), then you could still route all those busses to a set of Auxes which are in turn summed at Out 1-2. So when you switch to 1-2 on your summing mixer, in principle it should cancel out all the stems it's receiving and only hear the internal summed mixes. rsandifer
I think this is where I am confused. ITs the feed from the stems TO my stereo 1/2 again. I am not sure If I am comprehending what you are saying. Here is a screen cap to see if I am close.
camillo jr
Ok, so it looks like you are using Auxes routed to various outputs to get the stems to your summing mixer. That's fine. And it also looks like you've now added bus sends to the stem auxes to route them to your internal Stereo 1-2. That should work and using one bus to do so is a simpler solution than what I recommended! Again, if your summing mixer is muting stems 3-16 when you select the 1-2 input , the result should be that you will hear only the internal summed mixes. The Out of the Box (OTB) summing is cut off from your external mixer so there should be no loopback problems with the Logic channel that receives the OTB summing. IE, you'll only hear the internal mix.
rsandifer
thanks for the help. For some reason I rmember this being really easy with a hardware console and a TT patchbay....LOL
davidpye
Just set your channel's output to a Bus, lets say Bus 1. Set the resulting Aux channel's output to 1/2, then make another Aux with the same Bus 1 as the input, but 3/4 as the output. You should see the same thing go to both outputs on your hardware. camillo jr
That would work too. But in that case the OP would have to double all his auxes. Here he's made do with one extra one which seems like an elegant solution to me. Davidpye, is there a potential problem with this "one aux" scenario ? I don't know, I'm just asking. rsandifer
Thanks for the help guys I built a 24 track template with 16 summed sends. I would post it but how many people have an Equinox and uses logic 9...LOL thanks EDIT: I just realized that this same template would work with ANY external summing system since most consoles have a STEREO RETURN Plus the sends going to the various channels on the console. This would give you the same option of monitoring the summed and direct signal. I will post the template in the correct location.
David Nahmani
I will post the template in the correct location. Great, thanks for sharing! I'm sure it'll be helpful to some.

speed08
thanks, i will give it a try tomorrow. also have you come across a solution for having a permanent eq and 2 bus comp on the master buss? normally you would be able to have it on an insert on the mixer, or sum module like the tonelux, but it doesnt exist on the equinox. no answers from shadow hills yet on that.
